Frequently asked questions
1
What is the monument buying process from start to finish?
You first meet with one of our monument specialists who walks you through selecting size, shape and color of your stone. You can order your monument at this time to get a jump on wait time of waiting on the stone to arrive. We also help you design your monument. Our monument designer will then create a layout or monument rendering for you to approve your design. This will be mailed or emailed to you for approval. Changes to fonts or artwork can be made at this stage. Once you have approved the design for the monument and we have the stone at our shop, it goes into production for engraving. Once the monument is engraved, it is set at the cemetery of your choosing. We have over 35 years of experience working with cemeteries all over the state of MO. We have built relationships with them and they know we not only adhere to their sizing rules, we also set foundations that last.
2
How long does it take from ordering a monument to having it set in the cemetery?
Each stage of the process can take a few weeks. Designing your monument and ordering of the granite are usually the longest steps. Our work is weather permitting, so bad weather can slow down us receiving your monument or being able to set it in the cemetery.
3
How can I pay for my monument?
You can pay by cash, check, or by credit card. We accept all major credit cards.
4
How will I know my monument is set?
You will receive a postcard in the mail from us letting you know that your monument has been properly and carefully set in the cemetery following all cemetery rules and set to our lifetime guarantee standard.
5
Can I use AI to design my monument?
AI doesn't come close to the quality of the human touch!
AI-generated images often contain complex layering, hyper-shading, and microscopic details that are physically impossible to replicate via traditional granite engraving. Stone etching and sandblasting rely on physical depth, high contrast, and specific line weights that complex computer graphics often lack. We will review every design and put forth our absolute best effort to adapt it for stone, but we cannot guarantee an exact match. Simplification and/or modification may be necessary to ensure the structural integrity and legibility of your monument."
Key reasons why AI art struggles on granite:
• Lacks solid lines: AI often relies on soft "gradients" and "smudges" rather than definite black-and-white lines required for stencil cutting.
• Micro-details disappear: AI frequently generates tiny, irregular textures that turn into messy, overlapping chips or fractures when a physical blast nozzle or laser hits the stone.
• Lighting illusions: AI simulates glowing light effects that cannot be replicated without physical ink or light-emitting screens.
